  Alonso has enjoyed an impressive stint as Leverkusen boss. His side beat Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title last season and currently sit in second spot in the table. Alonso's achievements with Leverkusen have seen him linked with a move to Real Madrid to succeed Carlo Ancelotti as first-team coach.

However, Leverkusen are eager to keep hold of their manager, and sporting director Rolfes has now issued an update on the current situation as well as the speculation surrounding Alonso's future.
